About

Homelab, PCBs, a smoker that's usually running, and whatever else I'm building this week.

I'm Kyle — based in the DFW Metroplex of Texas. This is my personal site: the projects, the workshop, and the stuff I do when I'm not working. For the consulting side, that's blinktech.io.

What I'm into

Most of my free time goes toward building things — physical, digital, doesn't matter much which. I run a self-hosted homelab that's grown well past what it needs to be, I design my own PCBs in KiCad, I've got a 3D printer that rarely sits idle, and I've been putting together my own set of AI agents to handle the stuff I don't want to do by hand. If it has a case, a config file, or a soldering iron involved, I've probably got a project going.

Low and slow

I take BBQ and cooking seriously — the kind of hobby where "quick dinner" isn't really an option once the smoker's involved. Photography is the other outlet: I shoot with a Nikon D750, mostly landscapes and whatever the trip in front of me offers, and I've been messing around with AI image generation on the side, partly for fun and partly to understand the tools I use for work.

Home base

I'm self-employed, which mostly exists so I can keep the schedule flexible enough to be around — helping my daughter work through her Girl Scout badges, being present for the everyday stuff, and not missing things for a job. The pool (currently winning the fight against black algae) and the lawn are the other ongoing home projects, alongside a slow DIY desk shelf build and a garage I'm in the middle of refinishing.
